Do not stop taking Xarelto\r\nwithout first talking to your doctor. Stopping suddenly can increase your risk\r\nof blood clot or stroke.
\r\n\r\nUses
Rivaroxaban is used to prevent blood clots from forming due\r\nto a certain irregular heartbeat (atrial fibrillation) or after hip or knee\r\nreplacement surgery. It is also used to treat blood clots (such as in deep vein\r\nthrombosis-DVT or pulmonary embolus-PE) and to prevent the blood clots from\r\nforming again.Rivaroxaban is an anticoagulant that works by blocking certain\r\nclotting proteins in your blood.
\r\n\r\nHow Is Xarelto Best Taken?
Take this drug with food.
\r\n\r\nThose who have feeding tubes may also use the 15 mg or 20 mg\r\ntablets. Crush tablets and mix with 50 mL of water. Give within 4 hours of\r\nmixing. Give enteral feeding right after giving dose.
\r\n\r\nStorage
Store at room temperature away from light and moisture. Do\r\nnot store in the bathroom. Keep all medications away from children and\r\npets.Use/discard the crushed tablet mixture within 4 hours. \r\n\r\nMissed dose of Xarelto
If you miss a dose of Xarelto tablets 20mg take it as soon\r\nas you remember, unless it is time to take the next dose, then skip the missed\r\ndose. Do not take a double dose.
\r\n\r\nWhat happens if I overdose?
Seek emergency medical attention or call the Poison Help\r\nline at 1-800-222-1222. Overdose may cause excessive bleeding.
\r\n\r\nWarning
People who have any type of spinal or epidural procedure are\r\nmore likely to have bleeding problems around the spine when already on this\r\ndrug. This bleeding rarely happens, but can lead to not being able to move body\r\n(paralysis) long-term or paralysis that will not go away. The risk is raised in\r\npeople who have problems with their spine, a certain type of epidural catheter,\r\nor have had spinal surgery. The risk is also raised in people who take any\r\nother drugs that may affect how the blood clots like blood-thinner drugs (like\r\nwarfarin), aspirin, or nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). Talk with\r\nthe doctor.
\r\n\r\nTell your doctor you use this drug before you have a spinal\r\nor epidural procedure. Call your doctor right away if you have any signs of\r\nnerve problems like back pain, numbness or tingling, muscle weakness,\r\nparalysis, or loss of bladder or bowel control.
\r\n\r\nTalk with your doctor if you have recently had or will be\r\nhaving a spinal or epidural procedure. Some time may need to pass between the\r\nuse of this drug and your procedure. Talk with your doctor.
\r\n\r\nStopping this drug before you are supposed to may raise the\r\nchance of blood clots. Do not stop taking this drug without talking to your\r\ndoctor.
