Most of the sounds home electronics make aren\'t a cause for concern. But if an HVAC system (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning) sounds drastically different from the usual low-key hum, it\'s time to have it checked by professionals. Those ominous HVAC noises can be an indicator of more significant issues, so pay attention to them. Here are some sounds an air conditioner can make and what they might mean.
HISSING
A subtle hissing sound is typical with some AC systems. But if at the same time, the unit isn\'t as effective at cooling the air as it was before, this could be an issue. The hissing sound often results from the air going through the vents. There are a few reasons why this might occur: using the wrong size filters, leaking ducts, a clogged filter, internal valve issues, etc. Whatever the reason, call a technician who can find the root of the problem and fix it as soon as possible.
