Dr. Barry Matza has been in private practice, specializing in Orthodontics, in Boca Raton, Florida, since 1979. Later, he joined the staff at Boca Raton Regional Hospital, Delray Medical Center, and most recently, Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital as Lead Craniofacial Orthodontist. He also works closely with Craniofacial Surgeons at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital in Miami, Florida.
Dr. Matza was raised in New York City and attended Tufts University School of Dental Medicine where he earned his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree in 1973. He received a Certificate in Orthodontics in 1976 and became a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics in 1987.
Along with his private practice, Dr. Matza continually has been in academia beginning as a clinical instructor at the University of Miami School of Medicine, Dept of Plastic Surgery, Craniofacial Anomalies Program. In the early 1990s, Nova Southeastern University College of Dental Medicine postdoctoral program in orthodontics commenced. Dr. Matza joined the world-class faculty as an Assistant Professor of Orthodontics. He taught all phases of orthodontics from the newborn to adult treatment.
As a respected doctor in the field of orthodontics, Dr. Matza focuses on the treatment of both smile esthetics and complex interdisciplinary orthodontic cases. With his extensive experience in Orthodontic Craniofacial Anomalies, he is well-renowned in the treatment of congenital birth defects including cleft lip and palate.
