Dr. Darlene C. Bernard

Dr. Darlene Bernard is a Board Certified obstetrician-gynecologist (OB/GYN). She has over 32 years of experience and has completed her Functional (Integrative) Medicine Specialist certification from the Institute of Functional Medicine. She uses various nutritional therapies, e.g., nutritional supplementation and diagnostic testing, to identify the problem areas and uses nutritional counseling to create a holistic approach to wellness based on patients' eating habits and lifestyle choices.

Dr. Bernard will provide various treatments and services, including managing PCOS, PMDD, adolescent gynecology, menopause, and other diverse women's health problems by combining traditional gynecology and functional medicine. She will also provide bioidentical hormone replacement for men and women. Her services will also include providing additional treatment for breast cancer patients in the form of High-dose Vitamin C Therapy, Therapeutic IV Therapy, sexual counseling, and diagnosing and monitoring Thyroid and Adrenal Dysfunction patients, and more. Treatment methodologies and tools used by her would include nutrition education, exercise, stress management, sleep, smoking cessation, prevention and removal of environmental toxins, etc.

She graduated from Johns Hopkins University in 1985 and finished her medical schooling in 1989 at the University of Maryland. She also did her residency training in Obstetrics and Gynecology in 1993 at the University of Maryland.

Before joining COEM in 2013, Dr. Bernard became the Medical Director of a prominent hormone and health clinic. Here she focused on the hormone healthcare services along with functional gynecology.
