Operating within a 90 mile radius from head office in Preston the Service Division works for Private Industry, Local Authorities and Health Authorities completing building maintenance and services for a range of clients.
The James Mercer Group Ltd specialises in all aspects of mechanical building services engineering. Our business has facilities for the design and installation, along with the maintenance of mechanical services including air conditioning, plumbing and ventilation ductwork.
The James Mercer Group Ltd is a company which has a highly skilled operational team of over ninety site-based mechanical engineers of varying grades from Foreman to Apprentice. Supported by Contracts Managers and CAD operators the department is able to successfully manage building services contracts up to a value of £8 million.
Our mechanical building services include designing, installing and maintaining air conditioning, plumbing and ventilation ductwork. Our main office is based in Preston but our mechanical engineers can complete services all over the North West. Our dedicated team of experienced engineers are committed to offering clients a first class service which is why we’ve gained such a favourable reputation. We have completed mechanical services within a range of sectors such as hospitals, schools, offices, airports and many more.
Air Conditioning & Ventilation
We believe that comfort cooling is becoming increasingly necessary as a basic requirement, and as part of our continued expansion and development the air conditioning department will complement our other departments namely design and build, contracts and service and maintenance.
The continued maintenance of air conditioning systems is critical as it keeps everything running efficiently and effectively, it also improves the performance & prolongs the life of the system. Our team are experts when it comes to maintaining these units and preventing breakdowns, this helps avoid costly repairs from damage which happens due to neglect.
The department has a team of highly skilled engineers all certified to City and Guilds standard in refrigerant handling to meet F Gas regulations. The James Mercer Group is also a member of Refcom Elite which is a voluntary scheme encouraging refrigerant handling best practice and continuous improvement in industry standards.

The James Mercer Group Ltd has a Plumbing department to supplement its building services engineers. A team of qualified Plumbing Craftsmen are capable of installing sanitary ware systems and leadwork together with rainwater and waste disposal pipework.
They often work on sites with our mechanical services engineers but can also operate independently if required. Like all our employees, our team of plumbers are fully trained to be up to date with all industry best practices. Public health plumbing is essential and our highly skilled engineering team are known for their professionalism.
