JENNIFER SLAY

Jennifer has been a registered Social Worker in the city of London for the last 20 years. In addition, she is a dynamic motivational speaker, certified life coach, counsellor, author and trainer having earned an Honors Bachelor degree in Anthropology & Social Work and a Master’s degree in Social Work. She was chosen as one of the recipients of the Queen Elizabeth the II Diamond Jubilee medal in 2013 for her community work and was chosen as one of Canada’s women of confidence in the national publication, Chatelaine magazine.

Growing up in a small mining town in Northern Manitoba, Jen always knew that she wanted to help people. In 2003 she graduated from high school and moved to London, Ontario to pursue her post-secondary education. She has since made London her home. Most of Jen’s career has been in Child Protective Services in both the front line and management sectors. She also spent three years on a provincial project to help keep Ontario’s children safer.

As mentioned, Jen has been a very active member in her community having served on several committees and boards. As a classically trained pianist, Jen taught piano at a lowered rate to ensure that she could share the gift of music and in 2012, Jennifer co-founded Pink Ink, an image and lifestyle consultancy that focused on helping women make their inner vision of self a reality.
Jennifer has a love of writing. She is a published author of Finesse Your Life the book and journal, and she has written for various online magazines, one being All About Us. Jennifer’s love of teaching and mentoring led her to be part of the faculty at Fanshawe College. In 2017 she was asked to sit on the Board of Missions Services to help make a difference in the lives of others in any ways that she can. She has recently become a certified trainer for Extended DiSC, a behavioral assessment tool that helps people to better understand their behavior and communication styles in an effort to enhance their relationships with themselves and others.

Recently, Jen has won several speech contests through Toastmasters for both evaluation and presentation. For the last two years she has come in first place for her club. In 2018 she was first in her area and came in third in her district. Jen was also the V.P. of Public Relations for her Toastmasters Club in 2018. In 2019, she was asked to sit on the Board of the Forest City London Kiwanis Club where she has taken the lead for growing the membership.
Jen is EMDR trained. She uses this counselling tool to support her clients who have experienced trauma in their lives. Her signature program, Slay Your Inner Bully, co-led by Business Coach and Strategist, Jennifer Jimbere, was created to help empower the lives of others who are struggling with managing their inner critic.

For fun, Jen loves to spend time reading, dancing, singing, playing her piano and travelling. She especially loves simply hanging out with her friends and family talking well into the night. Her favorite thing to do is to cuddle and watch Netflix (a bit more cuddling than watching).

Jen has an undying belief in the human spirit. She has successfully combined her education and experiences to create workshops, online programs and various speeches that pull the best from her clients and audience to support them to overcome their fears and experience ultimate personal success. She firmly believes that to whom much is given, much is required and is prepared to always share nd grow with others.
