Alkylating agents are most active in the resting phase of the cell. These drugs are cell-cycle non-specific. Temozolomide is similar to the drug dacarbazine. It acts as a "pro-drug" meaning it needs to be transformed to its active (cancer fighting) form by the body's metabolism.
