Diablo is playing that story narrative

Everyone at Blizzard will use words like mistake regret, error, or error when it comes to D2R Items, but the message is obvious to me: the team is quick to praise the benefits of the changes but hasn't been seen to grieve for what's gone.

"I believe that some of you think we've broken our promise to release the game "when it's ready,'" Wilson wrote Wilson on Blizzard's forums after the developer announced that he would step out of Diablo at the start of 2013.

"While we're not perfect, our goal is to come up with the highest quality choices we can with the information and information available at the moment. That doesn't mean we never make the right decisions and if we do make a mistake then I feel that we've taken a tremendous effort to rectify it."

Only time will tell what happens if Reaper of Souls will be accepted by those 280.000 vocalists in a way that Diablo was the first time. Diablo was not. "It's difficult to determine exactly where ideas came from and what they didn't originate," says Mayberry. "I believe Jay was faced with the more difficult task of getting Diablo out. It required a lot of Jay and, I think for Josh to be honest, he's joined this time and assisted in putting that final layer. I think that they've all done fantastic job."

Reaper of Souls, with its procedurally generated adventure modes is designed to be that next layer. Mayberry states that the expansion makes the game feel more like an open-world sandbox and less like a directed experience that closely replicates the original games.

"If you go to traditional Diablo: Diablo 1. Diablo the very first version of Diablo is playing that story narrative. This was the model they invented back then and one of the challenges when creating Diablo was.

"What are we holding in common from previous games ? And what should we alter?" The focus on the story campaign "made cheap diablo 2 resurrected items feel more tinier than it actually was," says Mayberry. "Because you're constantly being driven to go there, and now go there."
