Convenience of Traveling To Tibet From inland China

Due to bureaucratic hurdles and lengthy travel route, travelling to Tibet may seem quite daunting but it is not that dramatic as it sounds. If you are all set and prepared, then your journey should be easier. Travelling from Tibet to inland China is more convenient than travelling from Nepal to Tibet. The reasons are-

1. Trains are available from inland China

You shall find trains to travel to Lhasa from most of the big cities in China. The rides in these trains shall take you through the beautiful views of Tibet. Travelling to Tibet by train shall give you time for preparing for the journey. You need not rush in the last minute to get your permit. You just need to show a copy of the document that would permit your visit to Tibet, at the train station. However, you won’t need the original permit for the station. But you should always carry all your documents with you for any check-up at any point.

2. Economical and straight forward

There would be no need for you to stop in China for a day. If you go to Tibet from Nepal, then you might have to stay for three days so as to get the Chinese visa in Nepal. You will also have more travelling options if you go to Tibet from inland China.

3. No requirement of additional paperwork

After the completion of Tibet travel permit by your travel agency, you only need to fill a form for your journey by the train. Whereas travelling from Nepal to Tibet  will need you to get the Chinese group visa first which is an additional paperwork.

4. Easy to make your travel permit

If you are coming from China then it is not necessary for your travel agency to send you a visa invitation. It takes equal numbers of days to make a visa invitation as it takes to make a Tibet entrance permit and it can be confusing for the travellers.

5. No need to stop in China if you take the flight

You will actually save a lot of time if you travel from inland China to Tibet. You do not need to get out of the airport even. Your travel agency may arrange to send somebody who can deliver your permit at the airport to you while you wait to board the flight. But of course you will need to pay an extra service charge for the same to the delivery person.

As recommended by the travel agencies, it is better not to mention the traveller's plan to visit Tibet. You shall save a lot of time – if you do not have to explain your entire travelling plan for Tibet. Sometimes the authorities in the Chinese embassy ask the travellers to submit the tour plan and details to them.

You need to inform them if needed. They even ask you to get a visa invitation which is not too hard to obtain. However, it can’t be given out to the independent travellers. Travelling from Nepal to Tibet tour is quite complicated. It is always better to make sure that you carry these important documents while boarding the flight or train as the authorities may check them any time along the way.
