5 Offbeat Marvels of Kerala

5 Offbeat Marvels of Kerala

Kerala is a glorious state in southern India, which offers a wide array of beautiful destinations to its tourists, but apart from some of the common places to visit in Kerala, let’s have a look at some unique and secluded spots which you can visit on your next trip.  Some of these places might be known to the travel world, but I’m sure they’re a lot more worth visiting than the usual touristy schedule.

Gavi, Periyar: Natures Blessing

The unparalleled beauty of Gavi is unknown to the tourist crowd, which is why it is one of the best places to visit in Kerala if you want to spend your holiday amidst the refreshing nature. If you are an adventurer, you may also visit the lush green forested area of the Periyar Tiger Reserve that surrounds the Gavi Lake and there’s a chance that you might spot some wild animals wandering around their habitat.  Apart from nature’s blessings, there are several activities that you would like to indulge in like bird watching, boating in Gavi Lake or maybe an impromptu visit to the spice gardens.

Kappil Beach: Beaches or Backwaters?

The state of Kerala has an abundance of various natural phenomena that attracts travelers who love to spend holidays in the lap of nature. As we talk about some of these factors, beaches and backwaters have a tough competition because Kerala has both. Kappil Beach is probably one of the places that offer a unique experience of the backwaters and long beaches in one place. This is again a lesser-known destination in Kerala which can be visited if you’re a quiet wanderer.

The Pristine Falls Of Soochipara

This tranquil destination will make you want to stay here forever. The falls of Soochipara are one of the most beautiful and secluded places in Kerala. Untouched by the overflowing crowd of tourism, this pretty spot is nestled in the lush green valley of Wayanad. The best thing about this destination is that the entire area around the falls is plastic-free, so there is no way you will find a dirty spot.

Highest Tea Expanses Kolukkumalai Estate

Kerala is known for its lush green expanses of Tea estates across the globe, but do you know that it is also the home to one of the highest tea gardens in the world? Yes, Kolukkumalai is a tea estate which is placed at a height of 7900 feet and offers some spectacular panoramic views of the Nilgiri mountain range. This is one of the places that you must not miss out on if you visit Kerala.

Shornur-Nilabur Railway trail

This is one of my personal favorites because it’s not just one spot or a fixed destination; rather, it’s an entire route of breathtaking views and serenity. This single-lined railway is a non-electrified traditional rail that passes through the thick vegetation of Kerala. Needless to say, the ride is extremely refreshing and a voyage that you must sign up for.  Soak in the beauty of the lush green Western Ghats and fresh air as you ride.

So the next time you plan a trip to Kerala, make sure to include some of these places to get away from the usual tourist crowd and indulge into the spirit of nature as you experience some mind-blowing marvels of Kerala.
